for some reason i cant get on to gnome-look.org, or kde-look. i've been getting a netowrk timeout error. so is it me or the server?

It wouldn't surprise me if certain connectivity to or from various things are flaky. some huge international underwater fibers were cut by a ship anchor and its wreaked havoc in europe, africa and also in mid-east connectivity. If you route through there, you may still be toast.

Same thing happened last week, it was down for about 12 hours and then it was back up again.
I wouldn't worry, not the first time. :)

Yeah, xfce-look.org is down for me as well.
It traceroutes ok, and is responding to pings, so I would guess the server is offline.

at a glance the -look websites always looked abit strung together, something probably snapped, hope its back up soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got hacked tho tbh. with any luck they will learn from it and rebuild a more secure site.

Yeah, that seems like the exact same problem as last week. Strange it's taking so much longer.

OpenDesktop is currently offline. They're all down (xfce, kde, gnome, etc). IT has been at least 24hours and it's not a problem on your end.

the servers must be overloaded or something, they need maintenance most likely.

I can understand they are under some huge server stress but at least get some competent servers to handle it. I hope they're just down for maintenance or something.

I wonder if they are getting DDosed or Dosed, etc.. ie: not by too much customers that want to enjoy the site, but hate it, etc..

i can access it, seems to be running quite smoothly now

As you noticed the websites are very slow at the moment. We even had a complete server crash yesterday.
Sorry for the problems.
The reason is that our traffic is growing fast and our main server has a constant load of over 30. We really need a hardware upgrade.

I just ordered an additional server with 8 cores and 16GB RAM. I hope this will be enough for a few month :-)
