Is this really the best place for this topic DPic? for a start, anyone in Massachusetts who's on these forums would be on our ubuntu-us-ma mailing list.

I also don't believe that a petition is the best way to get the state government to change it's mind. A lot of what goes on in government is corrupt unlogic. If it wasn't they'd be using linux already.

We need to get more contacts and people who work for the MA government involved and we can only really do that at the moment through the community support activities and local press.

Why would I 'Digg' it? Does Deval Patrick monitor Digg? Seems rather pointless.

Here's the direct link to the issue for those who hate Digg.

It's about supporting ODF in Massachusetts.

What is happening with ODF in Mass anyway? I thought we were supposed to switch over at the start of 07 or 08 (or something like that). Did the guy that was really pushing the ODF issue get canned or something?

Incidentally, I had no idea there is a MA specific ubuntu mailing list... crazy...

This is the commnity cafe, is this a wrong place to discuss this? Not all free software supporters in massachusetts are on our mailing list.

A petition won't be a great success, but i think it makes a difference and it doesn't do any harm.

And i do agree, we need to get more people involved in government. That's why i started this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoActivism

Because digg can get it out to more people.

"Massachusetts has wanted FS and ODF for quite some time, but Microsoft axed CIOs that supported this to replaces them with Microsoft lobbyists (true story about corruption)
