If we are talking PC only I would have to go with Guild Wars.

I'm addicted to Tribal Wars. (http://tribalwars.net) OGame (http://ogame.org) was pretty good but I got bored of it after a bit. Kingdom Of Loathing (http://kingdomofloathing.com) looked good (and quite funny) but i didn't really get into it...

Fancy Pants Adventure World 2 (http://armorgames.com/play/553/the-fancy-pants-adventure-world-2) is really good and so's Age Of War. (http://www.gamingdelight.com/games/ageofwar.php)

Mystery of Time and Space (http://www.albartus.com/motas/). It's the father of all room escape adventure games. There are 19 levels. It's pretty awesome.

There are a few flaws with it in Linux, though. It keeps popping up saying I need to install the mplayer mozilla plugin, even after I already installed it. And sometimes the captions don't completely fit on the screen.

For MMPGs, WoW (although my ATI video card makes it unplayable on linux.)
For little flash-type games, Bloxorg.

For web-based games, Kings of Chaos was awesome during ages 1 and 2, WoW is great for non-browser based games, but for flash games I like Line Rider!

For those thinking about tribalwars, there is a tribe (Ubunteros) on world 9 that you are welcome to join. Contact myself (wolf08) or pipeweed for information.

EVE

That's all that needs to be said :) .

I've tried Guild Wars, it's good, but nothing beats flying a Dominix class battleship with 5 heavy drones orbiting you :) .

Umm... what's tribalwars?
"Tribal Wars is a browser-based game set in the Middle Ages. Every player controls a small village, striving for power and glory."
http://www.tribalwars.net/

I played it in the beginning of summer of 2007 and stopped in early Fall. The game doesn't have to take up a lot of time, but I could see that I was becoming addicted and OCD about it. For example, I'd check up on my villages every half an hour.
