Yes, espresso is made in a very different machine that drip coffee. It's the same beans, just roasted darker, ground finer, and "brewed" in an espresso machine.

If you use linux and hack a lot of code your coffee needs to be strong enough that the spoon you stir with will stand straight up by itself. :-)

In all seriousness, this is some of the strongest coffee (http://mardigraszone.com/store/images/French%20Market%20Chickory.JPG) I've ever had. WOW is it strong.

Methinks you either love it, or hate it.

Moved to the cafe as this is not a support question.

Define "strong", flavor or caffeine. Often the dark roasts have more flavor, but less caffeine.

Expresso is strongest, IMO. The less water you use, the stronger the flavor. I brew with 1.5 Oz of water.

Buy some Sumatra or Sumatra blend from a brand that doesn't come in a can. Dark and rich, it's among my favorites.

go for something in the Arabica family, usually coffee from latin america, you could try Bustelo or Goya if it is available. All I drink is expresso or Arabica coffee, either cuban, greek, puertorican or french roast. Always with a small amount of hot milk and no sugar.

Here is a good site to get some info: Endless Coffee Break (http://endlesscoffeebreak.com/making_good_coffee.htm)

The hotel (4 Star) I work at uses St. Ives coffee. I personally think it sucks, but, to each their own. I really prefer to go down the street to the coffee shop and get a buzz from their coffee. It's really strong and has a good flavor. Don't remember the name of it though.

French roast is decent for a strong coffee, Arabica or a Kona blend is what I try to find. Kona (Hawaiian) blends are the best, really.

Oh, and for that link above, it would take 92 cups of coffee to kill me. Heh.

Sweet! I could eat 206 cups of Haagen Dazs Coffee ice cream before death too! OH, what a glorious death that would be. :P
