hi, i'm gener, the president of a local internet cafe organization here in imus, cavite. our team has been testing ubuntu for sometime studying it hoping that we will be able to deploy it in our internet cafes so that we will be able to get rid of the papt off our back. at the same time our group is also helping out some schools in our area with regards to the management of the ict resources.

what we found out is that a number of schools in our area are operating with pirated software and since they have already received a letter of warning from the papt they would like either to legalize their software or find possible alternatives to the windows os.

through the effort of one of our officer Mr. Troy Lim he was able to convince the school director of the Benedine School of Learning to use ubuntu instead of ms. since the school director was very open idea he has decided to use Ubuntu in his high school computer lab. our organization would like to help him out in every way that we can so that his school would be successful in using ubuntu in the daily activities.

1. i am hoping that we could organize an ubuntu day for the school in which we could invite resource persons that could give the teachers, students and school administrators with the finer points of using Ubuntu. other schools would also be invited. we have a standing arrangement that we could use the school as a venue for our training seminars and since they are using Ubuntu right it would be a perfect venue for this activity

2. is there any materials available like books for ubuntu, open office, gimp, scribus ect that they could use as a txt book in their studies.

thanks

gener:)
