Okay guys, first of all anonymous proxies aren't really anonymous. Case in point. Visit Proxify.com and note the New Y0rk address and camoflage. Then note they use SSL. But go to quick links are try Google Images, or any of their links for images, and you get a screen asking for money. And on the same page they don't mind intercepting your email traffic, friendster and search requests for free. And why the wierd links to C1A factb00k and weather service?

I think it's dangerous using anonymous proxies because they automatically label you as suspicious. I also think Proxify is being run by a g0vernment watchdog. However I'd like to know if anyone's heard good things about the JonDo service with JonDoFox browser. Thanks! I understand it works best with multiple users, however, their website says they can't protect the first or last mix.

Well, Ive found that Tor is NoTORiously slow. Not so, Jondo. It has it's moments but I've found it gives good speed on average.

But, I'm a windows user and am having difficulty installing Jondo on Ubuntu. That's how I found this post. Do I need to have the files installed on a certain path to use the command:

java -jar JAP.jar

?

Thanks.

I installed java from java.com (http://www.java.com/en/download/linux_manual.jsp?locale=en&host=www.java.com:80) by making a deb pkg with alien out of the .rpm/.bin and used the instructions (https://www.jondos.de/en/download/linux) on adding the packet source to synaptic software sources for the jondo install. haven't had a problem with it.

Dear Ubuntu fans,
Jondos is a very good way of being anonymous on the internet. They operated from Germany and you can try it for free. When you need more speed you need to pay a little for it. I think 1.5 GB was about 10 euro, but large amounts are much cheaper.
You have to put a command line in the software resources, but first you need to upload the PGP key first (you can also add it in software resources). https://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/en/software.html

Here you can see my thread on how to install on Ubuntu 10.04.

I tried the same with Ubuntu 10.10, but got errors all the time, so I'll stick to 10.04 for now.
With best regards,
