I broke my TV yesterday while remodeling. It imploded. Anyway, I want a new tv. Needs to be widescreen and anywhere from 32 to 36 inches. Should I get 720p or 1080p? I will be hooking this up to my computer. I have done this before, however it was with standard def CRT. This prevented me from doing anything text intensive, I primarily used it for movies. But with this one, I DO want to use this as a second monitor basically. Hence my question, is 720p enough, or should I go up to 1080p? Any suggestions of brands or specific models?

I have an AOC 32" which is a great TV. It cost £399 I think which was cheap compared to the prices of "better" brand TV's here in the UK.

What's your budget?

Things to look for:
1) Dynamic Contrast Ratio - Should be over 10,000:1 Minimum. Otherwise Blacks just look like washed out grey
2) Resolution - Go for as high as possible (1920 x 1080 ) is good
3) HDMI - As many of these extras as possible

Samsung are doing great LCD's screen right now. LE46M87BD is a good model. The M87 is the part model number to look for as this is the latest on sale generation from them

get 1080p, i expect that 720 would be lower resolution than your current monitor. i can bairly tell the difarance between 720 hd and standerd def
