Hello everyone,

I'm a complete Linux noob, so please bear with me. ;-)

I want to create a linux access point + print server + internal file server from a somewhat old, but unused homebrew computer (512mb ram, athlon xp 2500+). I have two laptops that I want to share the internet with wirelessly, I want to connect the printer to this desktop, and (this is the part I'm unsure about), I want to be able to, from my laptop, play music on the desktop, which will be connected to a stereo.

I want to use Ubuntu, as I am familliar with the distro, and think its great! I also need to buy a WiFi card, probably PCI, for the desktop.

I think the KDE networked sound feature will take care of the music part, but I have yet to try.

But my question to you guys is where I can find some guidance getting started. I can install the distro and do the basics, however setting up the access point is my top priority, as both laptops need internet asap.

Thanks for any help!
Jason
