I see people have fx5500 working does it matter who makes it? is there a difference in compatibility between pny 3dfuzion and other cards or does it not matter as long as it's nvidia. I can't get any distro to even boot with this installed, when I google it I see a bunch of people using them. Does brand name make a difference ?

okay so does it get to the boot menu for a disk and then just get a blank screen?

they used to have the problem with the ati x1600's where it would take forever to boot and you see nothing but a blank screen

yeah that was the problem with my old x1600 let it run, it usually took 10 minutes, then when it loads install start-up manger from the add/remove and configure it to your res and color depth ((and other things it has a few nice options)) amd then reboot
