Hello,

I'm looking (urgently) for a Wifi card PCI (for a desktop PC).
It needs to work out-of-the-box under Ubuntu Hoary (or, at least, breezy).

Any idea ?

I've been looking everywhere and no one seems to know about this.
How are you connecting your Ubuntu Desktop to a Wifi ?

Thx in advance

indeed. Last time I checked this page, there was no PCI card.

I've seen the DWL-G520. So I go to the shop next door and, oh surprise there was only one model of Wifi PCI card.

And, guess what, it was the DWL-G520 with a big "Atheros" stickers on it. So I bought it, I installed the unofficial restricted packages, rebooted and.. it works :-)

Thank you

It seems that those cards work out-of-the-box under breezy. I will maybe buy another one and try on my Breezy computer.

This (http://linux_wless.passys.nl/) is a fantastic resource, and steered me towards my 3Com 3CRDW696 PCI card. It's never failed to be detected and immediately utilised by any distro/ liveCD.

3 days ago I bought a LINKSYS WMP54G-EU WIRELESS-G PCI ADAPTER
it works "plug 'n play" with the 386 kernel, having some problems with the 686 / 686-smp thought, but it should work...

Thanks for your advices. Please put them on the wiki page.

I'm very happy with the Atheros Based DWL-G520 (really good connection) and I recommend it.

I took a look at the resource and as a noob got completely confused...

any chance anyone could make an autopackage of this or something?!
