What are the characteristics of a pinoy programmer?

Because Open Source Codes are widely-available, most stick to "Programming in CPP" where CPP stands for Copy & Paste Programming. There's really no point in starting from scratch when there's already one available for you perusal.

Environment: (Ok, maybe I'm describing my habits here, but I've seen one or two coders doing the same thing)
- File manager with a few tabs open
- Terminal Window, where one tab is ready to issue make and the other tab ready to apt-get source.
- fave IDE occupying half the screen
- browser occupying the other half with Google loaded on the first tab, and Google Codes open on the other tab
- text editor - with your notes/reference open on one tab and the other tab ready to accept copied text
- IRC client - just in case you need help
- a few eBooks open on the subject (don't ask me what eBooks i have)
- etc.

I've been a programmer for more than ten years. I've worked in some projects and programming in a company environment is very different when you are still in school. As I could remember, BASIC is my first computer language I learned. No one taught me except myself through self study. I bought a book and read it and tried to understand the concepts or fundamentals of programming.

For me, what really helped is reading books. You must be a learner, eager to learn new things, ways of solving a problem in different methods. This could take time to really sink in, that's why you must invest time in learning and be very patient.

As I've said, in a corporation, time is essential. You don't have the luxury to read every page of a book when there are time constraints. What I learned in that environment is you must be prepared and the Internet really helped me to solve problems timely. As daxumaming said, Copy and Paste! :)

Moreover, it is important that you follow the 4 D's of Development Life Cycle: Design, Develop, Debug, and Deployment.

I've been writing PHP and CSS for at least 3 years now. Alam ko naman na green bean pa ako pagdating dito, pero ayos lang.

Oo, CPP programmer (as per daxumaming's def) ako kalimitan. At wala naman atang masama, basta 'wag mag-claim ng Exclusive Rights unless dapat. Pero di kumpleto and pagka-pinoy kung walang sariling innovation. Kung anumang innovation, basta meron. Haha!

But then, that's what I have encountered from my college.

Sa pinoy gamers, remember Anito, di ko lang alam kung all pinoy programmer ang gumawa nito, at kung walang copy & paste involved.

hanggang dun lang ang nabalitaan ko tungkol sa mga pinoy programmer, at tulad ng mga naunang post, nasanay sa copy & paste.

10 years back, napansin ko puro business program ang ginagawa ng pinoy programmers, payroll, accounting software, payroll ulit. nung nagaral ako ng short course program sa VBasic sa isang computer school ang training, payroll pa din. At paulit ulit ulit ulit na itsura ng mga codes.

I came from a computer school...

Pero out of 30 classmates na BSCS... parang 3 lang yung nakikita kong dedicated sa programming so in percentage: 10% Lang yung may sikap na programmer sa amin.


Pero ano masasabi ko sa pinoy programmer?

naalala ko tuloy noong aaral pa ako... 2-3 lang kami pprogram tapos the rest kokopya na lang. papalitan na lang variables mo para medyo "orig" dating... worst yung mga take home na machine problem pinapaprogram sa labas for fee cyempre.
