Hi guys. New here in the thread. I've been using linux for a year (dual boot).

Am more of an old school gamer. Mostly emulators of NES and SNES that I play on my linux box

From a pinoy linux gamer's POV, could you recommend some native linux games that are fun to play with?

I usually play scorched 3d and starfighter.

Torcs is fun if you're into auto racing. I also enjoy playing Vega Strike right after watching a few episodes of Firefly-- but it does get tiresome after a few hours. :)

The Battle for Wesnoth- turn based strategy, parang heroes of might and magic + warcraft
Ninjah- platformer with a unique twist on the gameplay
Frozen Bubble- puzzle bobble
Atomic Tanks- artillery
Powermanga- 2D vertical scrolling spaceshooter
AstroMenace- 3D space shooter with lots of options (upgrade ship, buy new ship, arcade and sim modes, etc)
Nasa repos lahat, or halos lahat. Google mo kung wala. :)

Hanap ka rin dito, baka may magustuhan ka: http://happypenguin.org/

First of as much as possible buy games that supports linux since you're using linux system.

Most ID Software games supports linux like:
Doom3 and Quake series games

You can also play windows games using wine (http://appdb.winehq.org/) and i've been playing a lot of windows games on my ubuntu box like : Warcraft3,CS and other windows freeware and supported games see wine app database (http://appdb.winehq.org/) for a lists of supported and tested windows games that runs on wine and you'll be amazed by the numbers of windows titles games that runs well on wine.

However, there are also cool games i mean realy cool games that runs natively on linux and best of all it's free.

Tremulous (http://tremulous.net/) - an FPS combined with RTS much like Alien vs Predator but with RTS.
Wormux (www.wormux.org/) - a Worms clone

Warsow - an FPS based on Quake engine with cartoon shading
Warzone - PS1 game title now open source that plays natively on linux
Frets on Fire - Guitar hero clone ( I recommend u to play this very addictive )
Armagetron advance
Planeshift - MMORPG ( 3D ) free forever
Teewars - Online/Network sidesrolling shoot'em up
Thunder and lightning - Flight sim
rrootage -
gridwars ( wine )
frozen bubble
Nexuiz - FPS
Enemy Territory - FPS
Battle for wesnoth - RTS
Glest - A 3D RTS much like Warcraft 3
Digiband - Remember those Drum arcade games found only TIMEZONE? check this out.

... and many more you just have to be patient to find other cool games.

And be sure to check this link as it has an updated version of ubuntu packages

Hello Ubuntites!!!

I know you have heard the game "ANITO: Defend the Land Enraged," it was the first computer game ever produced here locally.

I bought a copy and played it on my winbox. It was quite different, an RPG with WASD controls. Though the graphics were dated, gameplay was decent.

Anyway, is there a way for me to install and play this game in my linux box using WINE? I would really like to finish this game using ubuntu as I've already thrown windows in the garbage bin.

Can anyone here help me???

Brod, got a complete library of SNES, NES, and GENESIS roms published. Do you have a complete collection of CPS1/2, NEOGEO, N64 and GBA ROMS. Willing to trade!!!

Currently, our group's project is to collate ISOs of PSX games. I've heard that they are already considered abandonware.

Need an opinion on the matter.

Kung gusto mo ng rogue-likes/Diablo-style na adventure where you get random dungeons and levels, I an recommend:
Powder: http://www.zincland.com/powder/
Lost Labyrinth: http://www.lostlabyrinth.com/

Powder is truer to the genre that Lost Labyrinth; Lost Labyrinth is great for quick runs (finish a level, save...) since it's purely kill-monsters-find-treaures.

Notes:
Powder needs to be run from its own directory or else it will end up saving its files all over your home directory (I use a bash script)
Lost Labyrinth's install somehow puts the folder as root; kailangan mong palitan yung ownership ng files (chmod or gksudo nautilus) para makapag-save ka.

Another good game is Linley's dungeon crawl: nasa repos ("crawl"); text-based... very old school- but lots of options, character races, classes, skill sets... there's a graphical frontend available sa sourceforge but I couldn't figure out how to run it.
