Hello all
The fourth major release of Nixstaller is now released.
For people who don't know Nixstaller:
Nixstaller is an Open Source project with the goal to create user friendly and flexible installers that work on various UNIX like systems.
This release features the following new items:
- 64 bit binaries for most common systems.
- Desktop menu creation.
- A new installation method, called 'Package Mode', which lets an installer create and install system native packages.
- sudo support
The most important new feature is 'Package Mode'. It currently supports the following package formats: rpm (Suse, Fedora etc.), dpkg (Ubuntu, Debian etc.), pacman (Archlinux) and Slackware packages. As fallback (or optionally) an uninstallation script can be installed instead. Package Mode also supports basic dependency handling, by bundling required dynamic libraries in the installer.
