Damn.. why am I no longer staying in the UK !!
Unfortunately it will probably take another 6 months before the Eeepc is available in South Africa. :(

Wow, not just OEMs providing Linux to those 'in the know' enough to search for it, but real live high-street stores selling this lovely little Linux machine.

Toys R Us also sell them.

I tried to have a go on one there, but none of the staff knew the password to log in. :(

Still, the login screen was nice.

In the full product specification section it says:

"Your software depends on the Operating System to make the computer functional. Look for Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (or MAC OS X v10.5 Leopard on Apple Computers)"

Gosh that is news to me. There was me thinking that the EeePC wasn't even Vista certified and ran perfectly well enough with the installed Linux OS.

i told my friend to get one, he got rid of his last computer. i want to see what it's like becuase i want one too. do you think you can use it as your only computer??

did you try root? can you log in with root?, i want to know, i'm going to have a look at it tomorrow :D

I'm sure you could probably log in as root, it depends if there's been a password set for root or not :)

Lol, try and reboot it into the full KDE desktop instead of the simple one, and see how many people think it's some new version of Windows ;)

Take a liveCD/ Bootable usb key and see if it loads it :D then you can chroot in and change the passwords :D

less that 3 hours battery life. when will they actully make a subnotebook that has a usuable battery life.
