WHat is your favorite linux application?
Mine would have to be..... the gimp, inkscape, nexuiz and avatar-factory.

I'd like to see some interesting ones that I can try too!

Best,
nikoPSK

the whole complex of mpd+ncmpc, mplayer and streamripper is one. gimp is awesome. thunar, even though it feels like cheating, is just so damn useable. browsing is the thing i do second most, so i've got to give it to firefox for doing the most i need.

it's the best of the big four, in my less than humble opinion.

There are lots I like . . . but if I had to choose a favorite I'd probably say Virtualbox. At first, it just saved me from dual-booting, so is obviously very useful. But it also gets high marks for being fun to play with for no particular reason.

Two apps i always have open are Firefox and Emacs. I like firefox and the extension system is nice but it looks out of place and a little memory heavy, hopefully 3 will fix that. Emacs on the other hand i use for pretty much everything else, terminal/shell, python ide, note taking, games :).

Songbird.

That's platform independant.

The apps I use the most are:

- epiphany
- compiz fusion
- gedit
- terminal
- exaile
- and Pidgin

Single application? With out a doubt Amarok. Best music player I have ever encountered.

If we include bunchs of applications, the whole generic set of Linux command line tools. Love the power and flexibility, also not having to find a separate and clunky GUI application for each little thing I want to do with my system.

Amarok is pretty cool alright

Without a doubt!! But also OpenOffice (No seriously. Not quite as glamourous but is a tremondous app) and also FireFox and last but not least, Planner :)

I would say that my favorite programs are Firefox 3, Opera (yep, I use them both), Inkscape, and GIMP. No other applications get more use on my computer.
