Which download is best for a Core2Duo? The core 2s are 64 bit, but the download specificlaly says AMD64...just wanted to check and make sure.

Core 2 Duo supports AMD64 just fine. If you want a kernel that's 100% optimized, you could try Debian's IA64 version, but I have no idea how much of a difference you'd actually see.

I am pretty sure IA 64 is for Itanium processors

Oops, you're right -- the Core 2 is simple x86-64. For some reason I was under the impression that it (unlike other Intel 64 bits desktop CPUs) used the Itanium architecture, but a quick search cleared that up.

So, yeah, AMD64 is the most optimized kernel, and it literally refers to the same thing as x86-64.
