Hi,
Slackware does not come with a package called 'build-essential'. This is a Debian creation which is simply a handful of essential compiling tools:

um...Slackware should have all it's development tools installed out of the box.
What are you missing?
If needs be, go to the Slackware download site, and go to 'get slack', then click the mirror closest to you. It should take you to an ftp server. look for a directory on the ftp server just called 'slackware 11.0', go into there, and look in the /d directory. All of slackwares development tools are there.
