I dont know of anything exactly like that.

But you could just use F-Spot to play a slideshow

Actually, I just did a little googeling and found this:
http://www.qt-apps.org/content/show.php/Manslide?content=55945

Might be what you are looking for?

You could also try running Photo Story in wine :)

Edit:

Also note that that is not a KDE application, just a Qt4 one. So it woun't use as much memory (or load unwanted processes), and since its Qt4 it will blend nicely with Clearlooks and Human (as long as the original Ubuntu settings havnt changed)

Can the Slideshow on F-Spot be exported and saved into a video format...?

running wine is definitely not an option for me.. i have choosen not to use any MS apps.. if i use wine i could as well just load my vista machine and do what i want there..But.. i want to be completely free of Microsoft..

Use dvd-slideshow, it is a command line program. It does what you want.
Its good if you have few photos (10-20) because its very slow.
Its available in repos.

Hi,

I've been looking for a good equivalent to Photo Story too, I sussed out WINE and this is the latest info I could find.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14929

That doesn't look like an option for me anyway as I wouldn't know how to get around something like this, whether it's possible or where to begin.

I'm trying to convince the headmaster of our primary school that Linux is good enough to do anything we want so I'm really looking for a user-friendly equivalent to Photo Story, I can't see my third class going for the command line option (yet).

I've run this program on XP and it seemed OK, and I think I read somewhere that it runs under Wine. Oh and it's free (gratis).
