Because I'd rather donate after I've installed it and if I decide to keep it, could someone please PM me a code? Torrent downloading is much too slow for my liking. Oh and whomever PMs one, gets 2 free codes per the elive website.

Hi,
Could somebody provide me an Elive Invitation Code? Thank you!

Don't be a tightwad, give them $5
I did and have no regrets.
You can usually download the development version free.

This thread is 5 months old :p Kinda pointless telling the OP that now ;)

or you can email the developer of it, and if he deems your reasons for testing it first worthy, he does let you download it free. he did for me when i was trying to find a distro that worked well with my graphics on my laptop (which, sadly, elive did not) and so i was glad i didn't donate the money that i had no way to actually donate (no paypal, nor credit card) and yeah.

I'm in Europa, plus; I don't pay for anything that's opensource.

Yep ;)

PayPal works anywhere?

I see it as paying the developer for his efforts, not for the software.

Having used Elive Gem in my opinion it was money well spent and well earned.

I think it's perfectly OK to make a living/profit from supporting/developing open source.

I know, I know.. I don't have a PayPal account (and I don't want one). I will compile e17 myself on Ubuntu..

guys, why would you want to use the stable elive? it is soooo outdated... try the development version, no code needed and no big bugs

running elive 1.9.10 with latest upgrades for a while now, and everything is rock solid... which it should be as it uses debian lenny's repos ;)

I am running the dev. version within Ubuntu 8.10 on VirtualBox. But Elive locks up mid session, so I
wanted to try the "stable" to see if that worked well.

E17 really nice, ubuntu based.

Elive 2.0 looks amazing. Works flawless on my HP Mini 1120NR. I have been a Ubuntu user since Hoary. I settled on Ubuntu after distro hopping through many distros.

Maybe time to switch to Elive!!

Is there a Ubuntu spinoff like Kubuntu, Xubuntu etc that uses Enlightenment?

Edit:
Elive 2.0 seems to be using older packages, since its based off Debian. Firfox 3.0.6 anyone?

More details on included packages here (http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=elive)

Not bleeding edge as Lucid alpha for me. Maybe I won't switch after all.

You don't need a code, the download link is on Distrowatch (http://distrowatch.com/).

If you're looking for an Ubuntu-based Enlightenment that doesn't insist upon a "donation" before you even install it, have a look at MoonOS (link to it from Distrowatch). It's gorgeous, fast, and pretty much up to date. Kinda looks like what a Linux Mint Enlightenment CE would look like if they had one.

Apparently you can earn an invite by writing an article on elive: http://www.elivecd.org/codes
