If you could install Ubuntu into a cell phone? Then It could be called Mobuntu!

Let me direct your attention to OpenEmbedded (http://www.openembedded.org/) and its resulting distributions: Ångström (http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/) and OpenMoko (http://www.openmoko.com/).
There was of course the Embedded Ubuntu (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EmbeddedUbuntu) project, but I don't think they did much of anything.

Sweet! But is there an actaual way that you can install linux into a phone manually? The open Moko is a pretty good idea:lolflag:

I do agree, but by adding a Hard drive(presumably a iPod's) , then installing Ubuntu on it, he might have been able to pull it off.
I have a old HDD from a Creative Zen Micro (8GB)... I could try it on a old pc first!:lolflag::lolflag::lolflag::lolflag::lolflag ::lolflag:

Canonical is already developing a mobile edition of Ubuntu (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MobileAndEmbedded) with the support of Intel.
