Hello All:
I'm looking for some help with Ubuntu tech support. (As usual, point me in the right direction if this inquiry has already been done to death.) Let me explain:
My home desktop runs Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. It is returning disk errors and will not boot after running a disk check - this is a new phenomenon.
My work laptop is also running Gutsy Gibbon. I just want help tweaking it to behave in a Windows Server 2k3 environment. (Adding network printers, running Windows-based network programs like gradebook programs, remote desktop connections, VPN connections, etc.)
I know what you're thinking: there are a TON of tutorials out there. But I'm willing to pay for someone (preferably a business, but individuals would be cool too) to do this AND/OR show me how to do this. Here is why I'm posting the plea here.
On the desktop, time is of the esscence (read: wife will kick my butt and insist we put XP on the computer while saying "I told you this was stupid"! LOL)
On the laptop, this is a matter of accountability. We pay someone, we can hold them accountable.
I'd love to talk to a Linux/Ubuntu professional; network a little.
Like I say, I must admit that since I'm a Linux newbie, I'm having a heckuva time figuring my way around in some cases. But I do not want to go back to Microsoft. Mainly, I'm just looking forward to solving some persistant problems and tweaks.
Let me know what you think - can you suggest any local businesses who can help? Anyone think they can help - this would be a paying gig if you're qualified.
Thanks a ton - glad to be hanging out in this section of the Internets.
Matt
