I'm certain that a great majority of use have seen the 'Mac VS PC' ads from Apple (good stuff :lolflag:).

But if you have not:

Comparison of the Mac VS PC Ads in Japan, the US, and the UK
- http://youtube.com/watch?v=sjscWV_wW2A
The Parady of them by Novell
- http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pa1RCg-Ccp0

So anyway, what would you think Linux would look like? I've attatched my thoughts, colored and uncolored ( its for a project an inner circle is doing (shush if you know about it (seriously) ) )

Include a description or a picture, let's see some creativity :KS!

I saw some of the Mac spoofs on YouTube, and the charactor portreying Linux was a chick. But I would have imagined Linux as more of how BSD is portryed in those Mac spoofs. Glasses, backpack, nerdy etc etc.

A wrinkly old wise man.

One whom people think is crazy and talks too much about things no-one cares about or understand.

A man who, if you first get past your preconceptions and try to get to know and understand, provides very insightful and revealing ideas that you feel all the better for knowing.

I think linux is not a person, but a pengiun. And if it was a person, it might as well be a doctor with OCD: high overall performance due to organization, and doesn't break, but waking up on the wrong side of the bed (grub configured wrong or fstab setup wrong) and everything sucks.

Windows would be a entrepenuer, doesn't care about others, just itself

and Mac would be chill rich dude living on the beach.

I say that's Unix. Our IT guy hung a huge poster (http://enterpriselinuxlog.blogs.techtarget.com/2007/09/11/the-unix-wizard/) on the wall of a wizard mixing up Unix spells. I always thought of any Unix system like that.

I think Linux is a dorky guy who's quiet and reserved, but if he gets into a conversation, you realize that he's wicked smart.

Then there are always OS Tans (http://www.jkhp.it/OS-tan/desktops.htm).

I guess Linux, with all the distributions, exists in many forms :)

Since Apple used men to represent Mac and PC, it'd be more funnier if a woman were to make them look bad. Same thing if it was the other way :)

what?

dn_desaku
January 6th, 2008, 11:07 PM
what?

FreeBSD is a UNIX-like OS that looks a lot like Linux. But not the same. OS/2 was originally developed by M$ until IBM got ahold of it. M$ made Windows. And OS/2 and WinNT are very similar but they are not.

(gah, I suck at explaining)

On the original topic...

I think when replying to something like this, we have to really draw from ourselves as Linux users, so it's a very subjective thing. I'd say that the hypothetical Linux singularity would likely be a toss-up of the Future-man and the Hippie from the Electric Castle.

That's more how I would picture GeoWorks.....
