I have been testing Hardy for awhile now (with no real problems) :)

Today my mouse started FREEZING out of NOWHERE!!

I was like "Ok, here's the pitfalls of using an alpha release coming on"
I thought it was flash since I was using a flash app at the time...

Then I checked the batteries in my wireless mouse and found out they were dying.

That reminds me of the time that I thought that I was wrong. Turns out that I was mistaken.

(please don't throw things at me)

Don't you hate it when the answer turns out to be something silly? :D

Yea...I slapped myself then I rejoiced that my install was still working perfectly. :)

Reminds me of my support days...

"Without sounding silly, is the switch to your computers power lead perhaps not switched on..."

Actually...my GF went on vacation with her mom yesterday and earlier I received an *urgent* email telling me that (gasp) she couldn't hook to the wireless network in their cabin, even though her mom's MAC could. Now keep in mind, I am the one that switched her to Linux, and it was my *** if it was not working on a venture away from home. I had left NWM on her machine b/c it was working fine, although I have had better luck with WICD in remote locations (no idea why)

After troubleshooting this problem for about 10 minutes via Gizmo, I finally asked her if she had by chance accidentally hit the wireless button on her laptop and was the light on.

You know the rest...

This reminds me of the time I thought my keyboard at work was faulty back in the days when people smoked at work. It turned out to be stray cigarette ash and a quick flip over and vigourous shake provided a cost-effective cure. Perhaps the keyboard had the electronic equivalent of an identity crisis, and "thought" it was an ashtray.

Or telling them to turn the power off and back on, only to have them tell you that the screen still says "panic" on it. Thankfully, I've forgotten how many times I have had to explain the difference between the monitor and the computer...

My other favorite:

Panicked customer: "We rebooted the server and now no one can log in!"
Me: "Turn on the numlock key..."

People in the financial industry always use the keypad for numeric entry. Even in passwords. Ugh.
