I was wondering if any of you are female Ubuntu developers or MOTUs? Or could I get some names of some? I'm thinking of interviewing some females active in the Ubuntu community, preferably those who are on the technical side of things, then posting a thread about the interviews.

What's your motive in this and where exactly will this be posted at?

I apologize if I am being blunt but before interviewing anyone on the staff of Ubuntu, we need to know what exactly this will be used for and it's motive.

Thank You.

My motive is to promote the idea of women doing technical things in Ubuntu. I like to promote females involved in FLOSS because they're so underrepresented. It's a fairly straightforward motive.

As for your second question, I was thinking of starting a thread on ubuntuforums.org about each interview. Or maybe we can create a subsite like Debian does and put the interviews on the site. For an example of what I'm talking about, go to:http://women.alioth.debian.org/profiles/. Or, we can do both. I'll leave the decision up to you.

I like the idea and can be very open to the community as we DO have women here who deal with development and would probably like to involve themselves in this activity for the Ubuntu users to see what kind of women from around the world are involved and helping us better our OS life.

Great motive and example as well, it does give me/us an idea of what we can expect from you. If you could give this project information to the admins so they can contact you with further questioning on this project.

Thank you for creating this project, and I hope to see you being inactive in this :)

heh, you mean FOSS? :)
Floss is something to clean your teeth with, FOSS stands for (if I recall correctly) Free Open Source Software

unless I'm horribly mistaken, in that case feel free to correct me.. or ignore my post ;)

I don't mean disrespect by correcting both of you, but FLOSS stands for Free/Libre Open Source Software.

Good correction and no disrespect taken, it's nice to be proven wrong to learn from it :D

The Libre makes up for the shortcomings of the english language. Libre clearly pertains to the freedom aspect and not the "no cost" aspect.

OK, I'm confused. What is a MOTD?
I'm pretty sure you're not talking about a message of the day. I'm pretty sure the D is for Developer... past that I'm lost.

Oops! I meant MOTUs! Masters of the Universe!

Hiya! I am not a developer, but I am a new linux/ubuntu user, and would be interested in the interview. I'm more technical and work as a tech support engineer (or just fancy word for help desk tech) full time. What other credentials are you looking for (degree, background etc)? I'm trying to create a website community for women in technology and computers (see sig)...linux related or not...so I'd like to know where you are going with this. PM me or email me?

:)
