I just got in the mail the web cam I ordered.

I was a little worried about compatibility issue, given that I can't expect everything to work out of the box on Ubuntu. After all, my printer, scanner, video card and all hardware worked out of the box with no issues so I thought it would be "work around" time.

I was wrong, I plugged it in and it worked out of the box.

I see that it came with a CD, I wonder what it is for?

(Logitech Quickcam Chat, for anyone looking for a no hassle, inexpensive yet working web cam)

Is that the one? If so the specs are respectable. I'm in the market for one atm so might get that :)

Also, on what to do with that CD... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3v_1upRdtA

cd's make great coffee coasters & my kids have combined them with string to make great things that dangle, shine & bang in the wind..... if your up for it here is a link to some great uses for useless cd's... the light looks really cool.

Yes. Although mine looks little different, the specs are the same.

There is another video of the same people using the same principle (and CD's) for making a rotary saw.
