I hope this one hasn't been done before.

I would like to know what's the internet connection speed everyone here has got. I've currently got 1Meg and will soon have 10Meg on cable. There's gonna be a 24Meg ADSL connection shortly in the UK. How does this compare with your country?

I want to move to Japan where "Internet connections will hit 10Gbit by 2010 in Japan"

http://techcrazy.theppn.org/archives/2004/08/29/internet-connections-will-hit-10gbit-by-2010-in-japan/

I'm on something like a 3Mbit down / [some crappy number] up :)

i think this is supposed to be a 256/512 conn, but it feels more like 64/128.
Sprint DSL.. sucks... but better than basic dial up... only real problem is when the other 3pc's are online at the same time.

cheers
john.

I got 10Mbit both ways. It's a normal network connection so I could get 100Mbit both ways by paying some extra.

Which country and how much, Kvark? If you don't mind telling.
Country: Sweden.

How much: I pay 32 € per month for 10Mbit. The cheapest alternative is 128kbit down / 64kbit up for 10 € per month. The most expensive is 100Mbit for 60 € per month.

I have a "variable plan" from sprint

Meaning, my download can go between 2.5 meg and 6 meg but that is not guaranteed. Atleast 2.5 at all times is.

Upload can go from 1 meg to 3 megs but only 1 meg is guaranteed.

I can really notice some differences at different times of the day, mainly during the morning and late and night I really fly.

I had a different plan at first that was 2mb/512kb up and that was more expensive than this, so I switched. Really enjoyed my cable before switching to DSL but Adelphia in my area started to block ports, meaning, I couldn't download any torrents faster than like 5kb/s couldnt connect to many servers.. it was just a real hassle

Just having a look at their website (http://www.rr.com/rdrun/) and the fastest speed they have is 8MB so are you sure your 54 Mb is internet and not just LAN???

No it's 54Mbps that it can run with, but it's pulling 15mb, my apologies !

It's LAN. "Just going by what my ISP guys is saying to me by messenger"

Sorry I don't understand still. If the maximum speed by your ISP is 8meg then how can you be "pulling" 15meg?
