i need some networking advice

I used to have my cable modem hooked directly to my router, and then to my pc, i had a wireless laptop that would connect to the router and use the same connection.

Recently the ethernet port on my cable modem went out, usb works fine, so i hooked the usb cable from the modem to the pc, and the ran the ethernet cable from my pc's nic card, to the router, problem is i can't get online with the wireless laptop now, and i cant login to the router from this pc.

how can i correct this?

get a new modem. also you havent told us your os or anything, and if you are on a cable modem which it sounds like you are your isp should provide the modem so get to moving.
