All answers must have methods that are legal. If not, the post will be jailed and the offender given an infraction.

In the UK you can watch bbc programs on the 'iPlayer'; channel 4 programmes on '4OD' and channel five programmes on 'Five Download. All legal but I think only if youare in ther UK.

Try getting the latter 2 to work in Linux.

I tried watching some BBC stuff from across the pond (USA) and I could not do it.

It is not exactly what you are requesting, but, I though it might interest you. There is a program called Miro (http://www.getmiro.com/) (previously called Democracy Player) that let's you watch Internet video.

Here is an instruction on how to install it in Ubuntu (http://www.getmiro.com/download/ubuntu.php)
