I would like to have our first Ubuntu South Carolina Team IRC within the next month or so to start 2008 off right.
The meeting will take place on our IRC channel (please see the other post in this forum for information on this).
Below are tentative dates and times. Please select one that will work best for your calendar. All times are EST time (obviously for us Carolinians)...
The meeting will be our FIRST official meeting, it will be logged and we will create a Wiki page with an agenda to set as soon as we set a date.
Sincerely yours,
XQ / Craig

Yep, I like all days except for that Friday. I do encourage everyone to choose as many choices that WILL work for you as possible. HOWEVER, please be sure to LOOK AT YOUR CALENDAR and consider all possibilities. I would like to maximize attendance and exposure.
Sincerely,
Craig

Voted for everything except 'Friday, February 22nd @ 5:30 P.M.'...that's too early on a weekday - I'll barely be walking in the door from work by 5:30.

Yeah, my same troubles...but I left it there just in case someone absolutely had to have that time slot. Most of the other ones should be very convenient.
Justifications (if anyone is curious):
I really doubt anyone would want to take a Friday or Saturday night at dinner time / "fun time" for an IRC meeting...so there was my reasoning there (for exclusion). I didn't include 9:00 - 5:00 because it would be normal work hours, but am willing to if enough reply and say that they would want them, but I highly doubt it.
Work is a distraction for many of us even if we CAN be logged on during business hours.
The days are mostly randomized besides kind of tip-toeing around Valentine's Day and its weekend...and also giving us enough time to plan beforehand (to setup a Wiki page with an agenda, briefing, etc.).

I voted for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The 9:00pm might be a little late, but the others would be easy.

Some kinda-of late in the night. I get home from school at 3:30 on most days. I will do the best I can.
Either the one at 5:30PM or the one at 6:00 (I think) would be the best for me even through that's around the time I have to eat supper.

Just to let everyone know some of my "agenda" items for the meeting will include:
Coming up with a roadmap for 2008 for Team-SC and a general roadmap for Team-SC about where WE want to go;
Coming up with agenda items for volunteers (on a volunteer basis, of course) for members who attend and those that have already volunteered to be recognized. I want you guys and gals to do what you love and want to do;
Schedule more monthly or bi-weekly meetings, on a recurring basis.
Also, you can check out the page at:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoGettingApproved
For further information about what I mean by "roadmap." I believe the creation of the "roadmap" will be one of the pivotal points for Ubuntu Team SC at this stage in the process.
Sincerely,
XQ

This thread will most likely be closed within the next 5 - 7 days with the announcement being made for the most voted for meeting time (right now, as of making this post: Thursday, January 24th @ 8:00 P.M. EST).
With this being said:
PLEASE get your VOTE IN!
I only see 8 voters (with hopefully some more people just viewing the thread and don't really care when the meeting is given the choices)...
I would still like you to VOTE...
Just to get a HEAD COUNT!
Sincerely and thankfully (for your time and responses),
XQ

Thursday, January 24th @ 8:00 P.M. is the set meeting time.
Please book it in your diaries and on your calendars! ;-)
Sincerely,
XQ
P.S. - I'll have a Wiki page up sometime tomorrow so we can all set an agenda for the meeting and get some plans together for action!!

The agenda can be found here (PLEASE add your items to it, replacing mine or adding to the table...I just added rows to serve as placeholders and ease-of-use):
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SouthCarolinaTeam/24Jan08Agenda
Please add to it as you see fit!
Add your own agenda items and different items, questions etc. Please see above post (on page 1 of this thread) about what items we should be covering. It references:

Thanks to all that showed up.
We will be having official meetings stagged once a month (during weeknights Monday - Thursday at 8:00 P.M. EST) for members.
Members must attend ONE meeting in a 6 month period of time on IRC (the official meeting) to be considered "active" in the team. This was decided at the meeting. This rule will go in affect starting at the next meeting. The date and time will be announced in early February on here, the web site, the Wiki and the mailing list. Plenty of opportunities will be offered.
If you believe you have special circumstances that keep you from attending a once a month meeting (Monday - Thursday) in a 6 month span of time, please e-mail me or Flare183 and we will try to accommodate you (night shift workers for example, we may host an alternate meeting). We just need to be made aware that there is a need for such things.
Also, an "unofficial" chat meeting will take place once a month (staggered with the official meeting) for those that just want to get together and chat. Flare183 will most likely head this up if I am unavailable.
And, of course, you always just go into #ubuntu-us-sc on Freenode IRC and chat it up whenever with your fellow members. Or on the forums. Or on the mailing list! Feel free to keep your ideas and thoughts flowing for Team SC on the forums and IRC. Thoughts are the spark that bring about change! ;-)
Sincerely,
XQ / Craig

Sorry about missing the meeting guys - classes and all that. All business that I've heard about thus far seems reasonable - anyone got a transcript?

Yep, it's posted on the Wiki:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SouthCarolinaTeam/24Jan08AgendaLog
It has some formatting issues so I'll be posting it later on today off the WIki site and look to correct it as well. Then get it linked to the main Wiki page and the Jan24 meeting page so it is cross linked as it should be.
It needs line breaks ;0)
...I'm sure it picked up a character here and there and parsed it wrong. Argh, Wikis. I wish you could turn its parsing off (I know you can in some Wikis, but not in this one...) Anyway, might want to wait until later on when it has a few line breaks otherwise it might give you a headache.
