** kassentra gave me permission to post this message **

Dear forum members,

We're doing a survey for a doctoral research. The project is about online service quality. It has been decided by the faculty administration that one of the repsondents will win a Free 6GB iPod Mini (including free shipping) for her/his participation - this is open to everyone worldwide.

There are no open-ended questions in this questionnaire so it can be completed by only clicks.

There are two questionnaires: one about Hotmail, the other about Yahoo! Mail. These two websites were chosen because they are popular sites but this research is purely academic so data or results will not be shared with Microsoft Corporation or Yahoo! Inc.

Please enter your email only if you want to take part in the free iPod draw. Collected emails will not be used for any other purpose. When data collection finishes, the winner will be determined and contacted by email.

Link to Yahoo! Mail questionnaire:

Please visit this link for more information about the research:

You can use the email on questionnaire pages if you have any questions.

Thank you for your time and participation.

I've spoken to her about it, and she explained it's authenticity. I also have to vouch for her opinion on this matter also.

It's ok.

The websites he's sending people to are part of the University of the West of England, Business School.

The home site for the UWE is: http://www.uwe.ac.uk/

I believe his research is for an academic purpose - which is why I said it was ok. :)

For those who want more information, I tried to attach research proposal in Word format but it says:

"File Too Large. Limit for this filetype is 19.5 KB. Your file is 79.5 KB."

For those who want to participate later: if you use both Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail, please complete the questionnaire for Yahoo. I received far less responses for Yahoo. Thanks.

It just seems to easy and it seems like of those, you signup and get this iPod if you do this and get 20 other people to as well.

I apologize if I am being rude, but it seems like a marketing scam and for a user to have 2 posts seems to be a little odd to me.

I want to see documented proof, even if you have to load it on a website ftp, I need to see that this is for a research project.

Thank You.

I would do this, but I have next to no experience with ether. I use gmail, and it works great for me. I used hotmail along time ago, but dont remember enough to answer questions. Anyway, good luck :)

I answered the Hotmail one, of course, many answers were neutral since I have never contacted Hotmail about anything . . . hope that doesn't distort things too much, lol.

The winner of the iPod (among 300 participants) is determined by a draw:

Winner: rich@ford____.org (I don't want to write the exact emails)

1st substitute: g522y1____@_____.com.au

2ns substitute: preludeto___@____.com

I've contacted the winner.

I'd like to thank all participants again for their contribution...
