Brings new light to programming bugs, and the hazards of OO programming. It also brings more respect to Australian wildlife.

Priceless.

Hahaha. I thought you were serious for a moment.

That is priceless. I'm not going to Australia any time soon. :lolflag:

I know. I am hoping to bring some harmony to the programming talk.

Lets all relax and enjoy OPB (Other People's Bugs)

Feel free to post any other funny/shocking/unique bugs found in software.

I don't want to start another thread, but here is another funny thing I found.

Feel free to post any programming related humour.

Don't feed the kangaroos and don't buzz them either.

I found that bug to be the best one ever. It is one thing to have non combatants fight back in a video game, it is another in a military simulator.

If I were on the programming team, it would break my heart to call that a bug.

I agree with most of the points from the second article, but some are off-base, specifically:

9. People who write code use mice
According to Hollywood most programmers haven’t discovered how to use a mouse. Sure, we type fast, but a mouse is a very useful tool and there’s no reason we’d abandon it. While we’re dispelling stereotypes, I’d also like to say that not all programmers are hot-pocket eating virgins who play WoW. Some of us exercise and have active social lives. Some have even had SEX! Holy Crap!
You can navigate better with a keyboard, usually. And I'm not just talking about Vim, although that is the best example.

Both links in this thread are brilliant. Thanks LaRoza

I also took issue with it too, I find the mouse to be almost useless for programming (except for reading).

I think it is a valid point when you actually look at the movies though, we do use mice, just not when we are typing.

I use the scroll wheel while typing...

At the same time?

I use the scroll feature on my laptop's trackpad to browse code...but clicking doesn't happen often on my computer, period. It bugs me when some Mac app developers do as they should and bind keys to dialog choices (d = don't save in photoshop, etc., and you don't need to use an alt-key), while others force you to click your way around.

I want a keyboard with TrackPoint, it is an IBM thing, now with Lenovo, so I am looking.

Oh my, object orientated programming sure is dangerous! Better use something more thoroughly tested, like abject-oriented programming http://typicalprogrammer.com/programming/abject-oriented/

As I thought, reality isn't quite that funny -- it did have the whiff of urban legend to it -- but surprisingly, the basics are factual.

Beachballs are also funny.

The Daily Worse Than Failure (http://thedailywtf.com/Articles/Classic-WTF-The-Abstract-Candidate.aspx) has some programming stories that make you want to bash your head against the wall...
