... is fantastic!!

When I have CD's that have been ripped, and they contain various artists, amarok will sort them all together, rather than having loads of artists in the libary.

anyone know another music player that organises the music as well as amarok?

Merry christmas by the way :)

No, I do not. I've tried other players, but AmaroK is the one I keep coming back to. It's not perfect, but it's the best one I've found for my needs so far.

Songbird's gonna be awesome once it's finished, though!

There was one once that I tried using that had the different artists under a main one if it was just different capitalizations.

I don't know how XMMS organizes music, but it's worth a try.

Well, iTunes can do it. If you meant anything that will run on Linux, then no.

What about Songbird, if I hadn't discovered Amarok I'd still be using Songbird. Its music management is great too.

Organization is the single most important requirement I have for a music player. Amarok is all I will use because of this. I know iTunes hosed up my wifes collection but I never really looked into fixing it. Maybe it was capable and I just didn't know it. Unbelievable why all players don't act like Amarok.

I hear some good things about Songbird, but I haven't tried it yet. Amarok works fine for me, so I just stick to it.

Actually, cmus can do it too. You just need to add "Compilation=1" to the id3 tags.

theres a music player called Listen which seems pretty good at organising "Various Artists" CDS
