It would be great if there was an option to do updates through torrent form since there is always a ton of updates on the first install and that would disperse the load from the servers a lot even if it was only available for the first month or couple of weeks.

This is already being worked on with apt-torrent, but it would cause a whole database to be moved (think of how slow and painful that would be fore canonical, since there is a ton and a half of packages).

I wasn't thinking of exclusively torrent updates only. But just an option to make the ones you have available to others through an automated torrent or like system.

'Sharing' updates in a torrent fashion seems to fit well with the Ubuntu philosophy.

wouldn't that create security problems?...think i'd feel safer with the repos anyway.
