Zimbra has proposed to support their product for Herdy if the community shows the interest. Go and vote for Zimbra support in Herdy (http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=23154). It only takes 2 minutes to create an account and make a difference.

Thanks for posting that. Zimbra support for Hardy would be great, I might actually end up using it myself.

Could you at least tell us what it is?

Taken from http://www.zimbra.com/

Zimbra is open source server and client software for messaging and collaboration - email, group calendaring, contacts, and web document management and authoring. The Zimbra server is available for Linux, Mac OS X, appliances, and virtualization platforms. The Zimbra Web 2.0 Ajax client runs on Firefox, Safari, and IE, and features easy integration / mash-ups of web portals, business applications, and VoIP using web services.

You can think of it as an Exchange replacement. I'm using Zimbra now for my old high-school. Every student has an email and can receive assignments from teachers.

I'm using it on Feisty but i had to do some hacking to get it installed and running. I lost about one day reading forums and good old trial and error :P

I am exquisitely interested in Zimbra for my job of supporting 100 people at multiple sites. I am sorry to see that it takes hacking to get it to work in Ubuntu. Is this true of the LTS build of Ubuntu or just the most recent release?

How has it been working for you? Zimbra's info states that it functions with clamAV and other useful open source software.

What is it with the Ubuntu names and people not being able to spell them:

Ubuntu => Ubnutu
Dapper => Drapper
Feisty => Fiesty
Gutsy => Gusty
Hardy => Herdy

.... except exchange has a frontend client (Outlook). I'm not using a web-based email client or calendar client or messenging client. If this thing has flawless Evolution compatibility then we can talk.
