I've already send an email to the mailing list regarding a possible meetup in Cebu while I'm there for a short trip from Monday (Dec. 17) till Wednesday (Dec. 19). Since my office is at the Asiatown IT Park in Apas, I can easily arrange a place for some Pizza or light alcohol after work on the 18th.

In case you are in Cebu and interested for a meetup, please send me a PM or better yet send me an email at jgotangco@ubuntu.com by Dec. 17 so I can reserve the place.

If we get more than 10 confirmed attendees, we may have to raid a Pizza place at the nearby mall or one of the coffee shops at the IT Park.

Don't expect a lot, I'll be happy to see a few faces just to jumpstart the local community of users there and probably discuss possible activities next year :)

We didn't push through with the meetup today because of the short notice and everyone was pretty busy. So we decided to postpone it and move it on January to plan better next time and get more to join, so we can use this thread I guess to plan for the meetup in a few weeks :)

I'd like to resurrect this again as I'll be back in Cebu, hopefully starting the 27th in the morning till Feb 1st in the evening. Unfortunately, I won't be available from the 29th till the 1st so the 27th and 28th are the only days I'll be in Metro Cebu.

The good thing is that Zak Elep is also in Cebu at this time till Feb so I guess its a good time to make an informal gathering of sorts.

Anyone still interested?

Well OK the thread kind of died down a bit and with the holidays and all, it was a pretty hectic week for me as well.

I'll be back in Cebu by the 24th (March) till the 28th and thinking of organizing a get-together at a pizza place or something midweek - any takers?

Jerome,

You still have plans to jumpstart my hometown's Ubuntu Scene? I might be able to pull some people for a meet up, but I offer no assurances. I am not sure if the local LUG is still even alive....but it would be nice to meet up with people who uses Ubuntu when I come home next year.

Hi Guys,

I didn't know there was an interest for an ubuntu group in cebu. Out of
curiousity, I tried googling cebu + ubuntu party and came up with this site.

Anyways, I am a senior programmer based in Cebu City working for an
outsourcing company whose specialties are in the opensource ( Exist Global
Inc. ). I exclusively use ubuntu for development except for cases where
I have to switch to xp or mac for testing. There are also many other
developers here who are using ubuntu for development.

Yes, I am very interested if we ubuntu users here in Cebu could create a
group of linux and ubuntu enthusiast here in our city. This group could
advocate the use of ubuntu( or linux, in general ) and to educate our
fellow cebuanos that there are better alternatives to xp and vista.

So, I'm all for meeting up !!!! Hardy Heron just got released! I just installed it! We should have a release party! I so much envy my manila friends who are having an ubuntu release party tonight!

If you people wanna meet up and have a geeky party to jumpstart an ubuntu group here in cebu, dont forget me,.. mail me at emantos@gmail.com.

We should meet! It wouldn't hurt if there are also ubuntu ladies out there! Bwahahahahhaha.
