OK, so most of you have probably seen my thread on the ipod touch replacement. I REALLY don't want to support apple, so i decided to go ahead and get a Nokia device. What is the difference between the 800 and the 770? What are the new features? Is the 800 worth the price upgrade? All I am wanting to do is be able to listen to my music, watch some videos, and surf the net. Another thing I am worried about are the memory cards. What is the difference there? Will the 770 work for me or should i just bite the bullet and get the 800?

Why don't you check the Nokia site? It's all on there!

There is little difference between the two, the Nokia 800 has more built in storage 8GB, comes with the new OS 2008 and has a slide out keyboard.

You can get the Nokia 770 and upgrade it manually to OS 2008. It doesn't have a slide out keyboard, instead it has an on-screen keyboard. It also supports up to 8GB of storage.

p.s. Correction, the N800 comes with OS 2007 (can be upgraded to OS 2008 ), supports up to 8GB in storage and has an on-screen keyboard. I am not familiar with the N770. Better to use the convenient comparison tool on the Nokia website.

I have a N770 you can upgrade to OS 2007HE (Hacker Edition) http://maemo.org/

It is not a user end OS but is pretty stable. Right now there is no OS 2008 edition for N770 unfortunately I don't think there will be, I feel they will improve OS 2007HE a bit and that will pretty much be it. By then there will probably be a N900 model out already.

Check Maemoware for more updates and info on the entire Internet Tablet series for updates and software.

N800. Absolutely. The N770 is no longer manufacutred and difficult to find. You can upgrade it to OS2006 or OS2007HE (hacker edition). By contrast, the N800 can be found for around $220 and comes with OS2007 (which can be upgraded to OS2008). It is still supporte. In fact, the "new" tablet, the N810 only changes the hardware, adding a built-in GPS and slide-out keyboard and replacing 2 SD slots with one mini-SD slot (which most people see as a bad design choice), but not the software. If given a choice between a 770 and an N800, I would certainly get the latter. For more information on these, check out http://www.internettablettalk.com Good luck!
