Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or did I just see the end of a dell commercial with a ubuntu desktop on CNN. It was the brown gutsy wallpaper. Also it was a christmas themed commercial and the background music was 'fa lalalala'.

That's all well and good, but it's still very hard to find the Ubuntu section on Dell's website.

Well, if you did, you will be sure to see it on youtube in the next few days. :)

Doesn't work for me either. Here is the link I have (http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/linux_3x?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs).

why doesnt dell just offer a choice of ubuntu in their regular "Customize It" link? rather than just offering a severly limited selection of computers to get ubuntu on?

isnt their whole business model based on the fact that all their computers are user/purchaser configurable?

edit: it would be nice if they at least offered a "No OS" option. didnt they used to?

Probably so they don't get sued by MS.

I've never been able to find this section before.

Amazing that the Ubuntu Inspiron 1420 with free OS is $50 less than the Inspiron with Vista on it. Is it just me that is confused by this?

What confuses you? That the price would be reduced by so little?
