Ubuntu Forums, in my opinion, needs a link on it that's sort of like Reddit, or a reddit.ubuntuforums.org. It could have 1 main reddit that shows everything, and then 3 subreddits: programming, community, and other. Other would be everything non-programming and non-community cafe stuff.

The items would be actual forum posts that people could read and promote upward or downward in the reddit format.

We had something like that for a short while before, I think it was called Synergy. But it went away not long after.
Do any of you admins know why it was taken out?

Do any of you admins know why it was taken out?It was a beta test that had difficult-to-solve issues. It was fun, but not stable enough, and was a bit resource heavy as well...and with the growth the forums have experienced, that was an issue.

The vote up/down idea is intriguing. No promises, but I am intrigued.

Has anyone made an open source reddit clone that could be brought up rather fast and synced with the forum message store of various forum products/projects?

I'm working on a sort of thing like that which encompasses all sources of Ubuntu documentation, not only forum posts:

Any help is appreciated.

I am currently waiting for the Canonical Trademark people to answer my last question to them before I register the domain name and go ahead.

Nicely done, az. I like Drupal in general, and you have made a pretty cool site with it. Good job and thank you!

Thanks, az! I'll bookmark this, indeed. Now, to do yourself a favor, you should add some text-based ads in the margin. I mean, they don't hurt the viewer that much and affiliate marketing (AM) can give you lots of income (and at least pay hosting costs) if done properly with multiple sites and from advice on wickedfire.com.

Looking good az. I've added some of my guides (http://urukrama.wordpress.com/index).

No thanks.

I have some google ads on ubuntu-rescue-remix.org, but that's to cover the costs of high bandwidth on that site. If I can avoid ads, I will.

If this site does take off, then I would offer to hand it off to the docteam (if they want it). In the meantime, I would accept any help in the form of suggestions or comments.

I have a thread on the Drupal.org website to discuss the implementation of the site:

http://drupal.org/node/201466

There's a lot to do to get this site to where it ought to be. Any help is welcome.
