Nope, it's a custom Linux distro specifically built for prolonging the battery life and maximizing system resources.

Tapos each public school gets one for display purposes, for picture taking for the media.

FYI lang. Some of you guys might want the SUGAR EMULATOR in your laptops. The XO laptop's hardware is great but so is its OS and applications. It's an easy download.

I'm gonna show it to my nephew this Christmas... just my own experiment.

Many of you might be aware of its mesh networking capabilities. When I switch to the "neighborhood" view I could see the other computer users in my vicinity. I am not sure though if I could "collaborate" with them the XO way if they were also using the Sugar Emulator.

Emulating the XO (http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OS_images_for_emulation)

Kaya I tried the emulator. Medyo kulang ang activities sa emulator kasi may problema sa dependencies pero in due time maaayos din to.

I got it from this link.
http://www.tuttlesvc.org/2007/11/running-sugar-on-ubuntu-gutsy.html

Simple lang, In essence, add the software repositories through Synaptic, then install sugar and sugar activities. The howto from the link is pretty easy.

sugar-emulator sa terminal to start, Alt+q to quit. Don't forget Alt+q to quit. Di ko alam magquit kaya nagbrowse pa ako using the web browser in XO para malaman paano mag-quit.

Sabi dito sa link
http://janimo.blogspot.com/2007/11/try-sugar-xo-laptops-interface.html
madali din mag-add ng Activities/Apps. I'll try this later.

If you start it, you'll immediately open the Journal, point mo lang mouse mo sa baba para makita mo ang other apps. Press the stop button sa upper-right hand corner ng Activity to quit it. Pero kung exposed ka na then you're ready to go.

tnx gbutalid try ko emulate to :)... curious lang ako sa XO, parang ang ganda nga idea na to ma promote Linux saka Open Source sa developing countries... me app nga ata dito na pwede mag code mga bata sa python saka pwede rin makita mga code nung mga apps...
