New laptop

Hi guys.
I will be getting a Aspire 3680-2682 for Christmas.

But before i buy it i need to make shore it will run ubuntu.

It looks like it has an Intel chipset, which are generally very well supported in Linux.

The only I would reconsider is the Celeron processor. For the price of laptop's these days, it's really not worth sacrificing the power.

That being said, I wouldn't use a Celeron, ever. I work in computer repair and Celeron's tend to be painfully slow, and really not worth it when you compare that even to a newer dual-core machine...

But yes... it should run Ubuntu (or and distro for that matter) without problem....

That configuration will definitely work with Linux, but I did a quick search on the wifi card, and according to what it found, it works, but requires NDISwrapper. If you can swap that out for an Intel card, you'll spend less time getting it running.

this will work great, but if you want to do any cool desktop effects or use a lot of stuff at the same time, definately get 1 gig of ram.

I also agree about the dual core processor. Keep an eye on http://slickdeals.net i got the laptop in my sig for 600 dollars shipped and it runs ubuntu beautifully
