i see i need a min, 512 ram to install ubuntu, my question is...
once installed, will this be sufficient to run ubuntu, and edit audio, and maybe even dvd/video files :KS

I would have thought the answer would be "probably", 'cause if you're not using physical memory, you've got your swap.

But I would imagine mo' memory = fewer lengthy waits.

Agreed, depends on how "in-depth" audio/video editing you're doing.

If it's Audacity and Kino, you'll probably be ok with 512mb.

If it's Ardour and Cinelerra, you'd better start saving.
