Yesterday, Panic released CandyBar 3.0, an application that lets you change your graphics and icons (applications, device, folder, and now Dock) quite easily. I liked the application so much after trying it out for 15 minutes I decided to buy it. Last year, I purchased one other application of theirs - "Transmit" (the best darned FTP program around).

A bit o' Classic. ;) I was able to easily access our older G4 iMac, through File Sharing (it works so well in Leopard), to grab these pictures from the Classic System Folder.

To this day, I still love this Desktop picture. When Apple made the "Flower Power" iMac I wanted one so bad, but I could never find the money to get it.

Hey

Thats really cool. Just a quick question where did you get the alternate icons? and can you restore your system to the default icon-set?

Just go to IconFactory (http://www.iconfactory.com/freeware) and download various iContainers to import into CandyBar 3.0. Some of the newer iContainers have Dock graphics as well. Also, you can import your own Dock graphics. See mine (http://www.jamesnrhodes.com/personal/macosx/files/) for tons of those... :)

Yes, you can restore the system default Leopard icons, folders, and Dock too. :) It works that well and is worth every penny IMHO.

Thanks for that

Unfortunatley I'm still using Tiger so I won't be able to use CandyBar3. There is an open source alternative to CandyBar called LiteIcon. Documentation is a bit thin though. DO you have any experience with CandyBar2 or LiteIcon.

Could you tell me what the folder themes your using. There really cool

Cheers

The folder theme I am using is called "Float" which is already installed. Then I went to IconFactory and downloaded the theme called Leopard Folders. I am using the Dock from Leopard Folders.

I have never used CandyBar until now. Version 3 is definitely sweet!

I don't know why it has always appealed to my artistic side. Weird... LOL
