I just got a mailing on this conference and they are looking for conference presenters.
The conference is aimed at K-12 School Network Admins and Technology Coordinators and is at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells on March 9-11

Not much lead time as proposals have to be in by December 10th.

I attended this conference last year and was generally pleased with what was offered, although some of the sessions were a bit too much like sales presentations. The vendor fair was well populated and there was free beer as well!

I actually think that the best place for us to be would be at the vendor fair with a booth with some free cds and a machine or two running ubuntu. But I don't know if they would do that?

I'd be willing to do all of the contact work with the conference organizers and help man a booth if we could do that.

I'm just throwing this out to see if there is any additional interest.
Here's the conference website, http://www.BrainStormK12.com

What I'd like to do is be able to set up a table with a couple machines running ubuntu, have some free discs to hand out, and answer peoples questions about ubuntu. I'd like to do ths during the vendor fair. Last year this event had a lot of different companies involved and then a bunch of door prizes given away at the end of the evening. I won a palm pilot! Someone provided free beer and food too.

I don't know if this will be possible, but if you are still interested, please let me know before December 10th so I can contact the conference organizers and make a pitch. They may not be in favor of a non-paying booth, but we can't know until we try.

Even if this doesnt go down this year, I plan on talking with some of the organizers during the event, about doing it in 2009. I also ordered 20 cds from ship it and just found they were approved!

Next semester I will have every weekend free. I can help man a booth if you manage to get approved. :)

I've emailed my idea of having a booth at the vendor fair to the organizers. Now it's just wait and see their response is.

I'll post in here as soon as I know something.

Thanks lifewithryan and Ek0nomk for volunteering.

I finally got a reply, a week later.

here it is:

There is a strong presence of open source in BrainStorm. It may not be Ubuntu specific - my distro of choice is Mandriva - we would welcome all vendors/groups at the vendor expo. Expect more info on the website <www.brainstormk12.com> this week.

I don't know what this means as far as they would welcome us for a fee or welcome us with no fee.

I'll post again if I find out more
