I stumbled upon a post that was so cool, I just had to make a new thread. Use the following code to generate an HTML-formatted version of your system specifications:

sudo lshw -html > ~/hardware_info.html && firefox ~/hardware_info.html
Then upload it to the server of your choice so we can all see it!

Here's mine: http://kcheck.sourceforge.net/other/hardware_info.html

Note: Free instant webhosting can be found here: http://xthost.info/

O_o

size: 1250MHz
capacity: 2800MHz

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!! I know I think I under clocked my cpu because it was having problems about 3 or 4 years ago... I am planning on buying a new computer as soon as I find a good linux offering in New Zealand so then I would be happy to wreck this computer lol. I built this one when I was 17 but have had too many weird hardware issue which I think is down to a faulty motherboard. (dead CDRW dead DVDrom, 2 dead 80gb hdds dead geforce 4 ti GFX blaah blaah blaah...

Take a picture of it.

The output of lshw is too long to fit in a screen, so there either has to be several screenshots attached or a single html file uploaded to another server.

You should post it in HTML format like the command does. That way it's easier to read. Lol yeah it's free. And amazingly instant.

I looked through that and thought to myself: "you have a DVD RAM Drive?!?" How do DVD-RAM drives work exactly. I know what they are, but do you have to buy like special DVDs?

Upload it to the free webhosting site I posted in the main post. It's free and instant. Just upload the HTML file.

Yeah special DVDs. I heard they're pretty cool, It's like a portable hard drive on a DVD! The price range is pretty good too.

I had to look that one up myself. :) Apparently they are one spec for rewritable DVDs, like DVD-RW or DVD+RW. Wikipedia says DVD-RAM is better, though:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-RAM

So, I guess I can always start using those if USB flash memory gets too expensive.

The command does it for you. It will save hardware_info.html in your home directory.

Yup. And then login to xthost (hopefully you changed your pass, otherwise make a new account), click Browse next to Upload a file, double-click the hardware_info.html file and click upload.

I put mine up again here: http://two.xthost.info/random3248/hardware_info.html

Here's mine (http://x04d.com/hardware_info.html).

I still don't know why it's not reporting my CPU speed properly. I must have some kind of speedstep running in the BIOS.

Q6600 @ 3.6GHz, for clarification.

I don't really see why u guys would upload a html file with all your in depth specs, no one is going to examine it in depth it's only useful for yourself really. Also nearly every single uploaded html file is dead after a few months. I suggest we just post the specs in the post.

Here are my specs:
Pentium 4 1.6Ghz
768 DDR RAM
ATI 9700 Pro 128Mb
Western Digital 250 GB
IBM P275 CRT Trinitron Monitor 21"
