I was wondering if someone could explain how GNU, GPL works and how the open source business works?
For example say I build a project using an open source product that may include open source libraries, am I then required to release my source for the entire project if I decide to sell the product?
If I was to sell the product, does it have to be open source?
How does open source work for a modern day business, is it a viable option, for instance you must be giving away a certain amount of IP with it and unable to apply license use restrictions upon it to ensure an income?
Is open source really a viable business model from a money making perspective?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
