Hello, i cleaned up my room (finally!) and i found my stuck ipod nano back. once i wanted to put linux/rockbox on it but there happened a few things :

1) i didn't make a backup of my ipod nano files (so not the music , the files of the ipod self) dumb me

2) After installing linux on my nano..he couldn't load the kernel !

and now ,when i turn my nano on i see the kernel loading..but gives a error after a while and when i reset, i see the apple logo...and it goes no further

and for the ipod linux installer you need a backup of your ipod..damns!

is there anyone who knows how i can re-install my ipod with the apple firmwire ? and after that , how do i install rockbox ?

I apologise if this is a stupid question, but is it a 1st generation nano? AFAIK, those are the only ones which replacment firmware will work on.
