Actually I think they're all one in the same. Emerald and the GTK Window Decorator will actually replace whatever non compositing window manager you happen to be using. Metacity, XFWM, Kwin etc. For example, the GTK Window Decorator will provide the same, if not more, functions as Metacity such as double click to shade. So the GTK Window Decorator is actually a window manager.
