I look at other distros forums from time to time...I have especially found the Gentoo forums (http://forums.gentoo.org/) to be quite informative and useful. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I looked for the Debian forums (http://forums.debian.net/) and discovered it to be so small. I'm not trying to do any distro bashing, really I was just so surprised at the inactivity on the Debian forums.

From the Debian forums main page:
Our users have posted a total of 5894 articles
We have 1469 registered users
In total there are 5 users online :: 0 Registered, 0 Hidden and 5 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]
Most users ever online was 47 on 2005-06-16 02:22
Is the site just incredibly new?

For comparison...

From the Gentoo forums main page:
Our users have posted a total of 2644183 articles
We have 94108 registered users
In total there are 261 users online :: 80 Registered, 7 Hidden and 174 Guests [ Administrator ] [ Moderator ]
Most users ever online was 1850 on Thu Dec 30, 2004 5:17 pm

Yes, and Debian People are big into mailing lists and IRC.

I was gonna make a little freewebs site about the forum sizes but stopped after one thing... I have no idea why the text looks so weird.
The text looks okay to me. What's it doing for you?

I had a feeling Gentoo was going to be pretty high, but wasn't expecting Fedora to be #1. As far as Debian, I bever knew they had a forum.....

Subscribe to a few of these and you'll find debian is a great dela larger then the Ubuntu forums:

Only one reason for Ubuntu's numbers being so low... most people can do things without help from the forums! :grin:

You're talking about forums.debian.net ? Yeah, we're not so popular as ubuntuforums.org :) You'll find me there using this same nickname.

It's a good step for debian to have a forum with a nice web interface which appeals to new users (and not so new).
Oficially (forums.debian.net is still unoficial) Debian has debianhelp.org, a gigantic list of mailing lists, some for developers, others for users, a Debian newsgroup (or more, I can't remember), and a dozen irc channels. So you might say that discussion about debian is more spread out around those other places.

This may as well be a conversation about genetelia.

You are exactly the sort of person I was hoping would see this and reply. Thanks for the info...I was certain that a solid, well-respected distro like Debian had to have something more. The links are appreciated as well.

Well, now that you mention it, I happen to have a...

My real goal was just to find out where the Debian support/community are, not to compare apples to oranges.
