Absolutely no reliable means of communication anywhere in N.O. Even the cops and national guard have to rely on satellite phones and 2-ways. I wonder how this guy has a connection reliable enough to publish a blog? But then, that guy in Slidell has one, so like you said mike-- amazing.

Maybe they have a laptop running off a car battery? T-Mobile is offering free wireless internet in the area.

The whole situation just seems unreal when watching it on the news, but to read the blog first hand, is just crazy how different things are shown.

The world turned upside down. I live 8 hours away from my home town, but people are pouring in here. My friend near the Astrodome told me its amazing.

Chaos would help nobody and just because you home got destroyed does not mean you now need a new 60 in HDTV and a few DVD players to go with it.

"No one can say they didn't see it coming"
In 2001, FEMA warned that a hurricane striking New Orleans was one of the three most likely disasters in the U.S. But the Bush administration cut New Orleans flood control funding by 44 percent to pay for the Iraq war.

you really cant blame bush for shifting funds to the war in iraq. afterall, the benefits of the war far outweigh the negative results of any resources diverted from the new orleans protection project. part of what makes a good president is just plain old common sense and the ability to prioritize things. the terrorists and biological and chemical weapons that were produced in iraq could have killed millions of americans. the deaths in new orleans are unfortunate, but it saved millions of american lives. george bush only cut those funds because it was absolutely necessary for the good of the country. .

Please lets not play politics over this HERE! Please please please. This is serious stuff, lets not make it about Bush.
