I recently gave Gentoo a spin and while it didn't work out on me (will try it on it's next release), I loved portage and the USE flags.
Is there anyway to get that in ubuntu? Before someone says apt-build, it doesn't have USE flags and yes, I know, apt is more mature than portage.

P.S. I didn't post this in the normal channels because I didn't think it would fit there, it's more speculation than anything, and plus, it's a little more advanced than what belongs there.
